How Hearing Him Uses Bible Translations

At Hearing Him, we treat the Bible with the highest spiritual and legal respect.
That is why we are transparent about which translations we use on the site and why.

Our goal is to:

  • offer free Bible-based resources for reading, prayer, and devotion;
  • respect the copyright of each translation;
  • keep paid content focused on studies, reflections, and guidance, not on selling Bible texts.

1. Bible translations used on the public site

🇧🇷 Portuguese

On the site, for Bible reading in Portuguese, we prioritize translations that:

  • are in the public domain, or
  • have an open license, explicitly intended for free use in digital projects.

Main PT-BR translation:

  • BLT – “Bíblia Livre / Bíblia Livre para Todos”
    A modern project in accessible language, created with the purpose of being a Bible translation suitable for free use, with a focus on reading, evangelism, and study.

When we use other historical editions of Almeida, we will give preference to versions whose source clearly states public domain status and we will indicate this condition on the page itself.

🇪🇸 Spanish

For Spanish, we use on the site:

  • Reina-Valera 1909 (RV1909)

Several Christian sources and Bible text projects classify RV1909 as a public domain edition, which allows its availability for reading in digital projects.

🇬🇧 English

For English, we use two classic and widely recognized translations as free to use:

  • WEB – World English Bible
    The official project states that the text of the WEB is in the public domain, and may be used freely.
  • KJV – King James Version
    A historic 1611 translation, traditionally treated as public domain in most digital and editorial contexts.

These versions allow Hearing Him to offer free Bible reading in English in a way that respects copyright law.

2. What about modern versions (NVI, NVT, NAA, ARA, etc.)?

Modern Portuguese translations such as:

  • NVI – Nova Versão Internacional (Biblica / partner publishers),
  • NVT – Nova Versão Transformadora,
  • NAA – Nova Almeida Atualizada,
  • ARA – Almeida Revista e Atualizada,

are fully protected by copyright. In general, full distribution of these translations on websites and apps requires specific agreements with Bible societies and publishers.

Therefore, at Hearing Him:

  • we do not provide the complete Bible text of these translations on the site;
  • we only use short excerpts, in moderate amounts, inside studies, devotionals, and teaching content;
  • whenever possible, we indicate the version used (for example, “NVI”, “NAA”) and the corresponding Bible reference.

Our focus is that paid content (courses, guided studies, vocation, structured devotionals) delivers:

guidance, context, practical application, and mentoring,
and never just the unrestricted access to a protected Bible translation.

3. About Almeida Corrigida Fiel (ACF)

Almeida Corrigida Fiel (ACF) is published by the Sociedade Bíblica Trinitariana do Brasil (SBTB) and is widely used in Christian sites and materials.

In at least one of its editions, SBTB allows reprinting of excerpts up to a certain limit (for example, a maximum number of verses and a percentage of the work), as long as the proper copyright references are included.

Out of respect for this policy, Hearing Him adopts the following criteria:

  • Public use on the site:
  • ACF may appear in short quotations within studies, devotionals, and editorial content.
  • We do not offer ACF as a complete navigable Bible text (the entire Bible in ACF with word search, book/chapter/verse navigation, etc.).
  • Internal / personal use:
  • ACF may be used for personal study, preparation of materials, and development, always with care for the text and for its rights holders.

If at any point we obtain specific formal authorization from SBTB for broader use, we will disclose that clearly on this page.

4. Free content vs. paid content

Hearing Him was designed to be, for the most part, a free project, with an optional paid area for those who want to go deeper into:

  • guided Bible studies,
  • devotional mentoring,
  • vocation and purpose,
  • content in audio, video, structured texts, and practical exercises.

Important:

  • In the paid area, the focus is on reflections, explanations, and practical application.
  • Bible passages are:
  • indicated by reference (e.g., “Read John 3:16–21”), or
  • quoted in short excerpts, within the context of the study.

We do not sell any specific Bible translation.
We teach, organize, and guide people in reading the Bible.

5. Our commitment to copyright and to the Kingdom

Our commitment is twofold:

  1. To the Kingdom of God – treating Scripture with reverence, faithfulness, and clarity.
  2. To the law – respecting the copyright of translators, Bible societies, and publishers, honoring the work of those who dedicated years to translating and revising the text.

Whenever there is a policy change, a new partnership, or licensing of other versions (such as NVI, NAA, NVT, etc.), this page will be updated to keep full transparency with all users.
