Joel starts with a disaster movie scenario. A locust plague wiped out Judah. Joel uses this trauma as a megaphone: "If you think locusts were bad, wait for the Day of the Lord." It is an urgent call to national repentance, summoning a Solemn Assembly.

The theology connects Repentance Today with Glory Tomorrow.
1. Rend Your Heart:
"Rend your hearts and not your garments." God isn't interested in the theater of repentance, but in internal surgery. He is gracious and merciful.
2. The Promise of Pentecost (Ch. 2):
Joel prophesies the democratization of the Holy Spirit. He sees a day when God would pour out His Spirit on "all flesh". Peter confirms this in Acts 2.
3. The Valley of Decision:
In the end, Joel sees nations in the "Valley of Decision". The Day of the Lord is terrible for enemies, but a refuge for His people.
Where does Joel meet you?
1. The "Lost Years":
Feel like you wasted years? Joel brings a promise: "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten." God can redeem even lost time.
2. When the Alarm Rings:
God uses crises to wake us up. Don't waste the crisis. Ask: "God, what are You saying? Where has my heart hardened?".
3. Need for the Spirit:
Christian life is impossible without the Spirit. If you feel dry like the land, the promise of the latter rain is for you.
