Luke was not an eyewitness but the first Christian "investigative journalist". He interviewed witnesses (likely Mary). Writing to Theophilus ("Friend of God"), his goal is historical certainty.
He focuses on Jesus' perfect humanity, highlighting what others missed: women, the poor, Samaritans, and outcasts. It is the Gospel of universal grace.

The theology focuses on Saving the Lost and Heaven's Joy.
1. Gospel of the Outcast:
Matthew's genealogy goes to Abraham; Luke's to Adam. He shows Jesus touching the untouchables. He destroys social and racial barriers (Good Samaritan).
2. The Prodigal Father (Luke 15):
The crown jewel. Two lost sons (one in rebellion, one in religion) and a Father who runs to embrace. God is not a judge waiting to condemn, but a Father waiting to celebrate.
3. Prayer Life:
Luke records Jesus praying more than anyone else. Jesus prays at baptism, before choosing disciples, at the transfiguration. Perfect humanity depends on the Spirit.
Where does Luke meet you?
1. When You Feel "Lost":
Jesus' mission: "Seek and save the lost" (Zacchaeus). If you feel inadequate or don't fit in, Luke is your book. Jesus would cross the city just to dine with you.
2. Breaking Prejudice:
Do you judge by appearance? Luke confronts us with the "sinful woman" versus Simon the Pharisee. He who is forgiven much, loves much. It heals our critical eye.
3. The Road to Emmaus:
Two disciples walk in sadness. Jesus walks with them. Luke meets us in disappointment to make our hearts "burn" again with Scripture. The cure is His Presence.
