Malachi is God's final word in the OT. After him, 400 years of silence. Written in a "dispute" style: God says "I loved you," people ask "How?".
The Temple was running, but worship was boring bureaucracy. Priests offered sick animals. Malachi confronts this spiritual lukewarmness.

The theology focuses on Honor and Hope.
1. Where is My Honor?
"If I am a Father, where is my honor?". People gave God leftovers. Message: God is a "Great King" and deserves the best. Mediocrity in worship is a personal offense.
2. Robbery (Tithes):
Malachi 3 isn't just about money, but return. "Will man rob God?". Withholding declares independence. "Test me" is a trust challenge.
3. The Sun of Righteousness:
It ends with a luminous promise: "The Sun of Righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings." The final prophecy about Jesus. The long night will end.
Where does Malachi meet you?
1. When Love Grows Cold:
Is church automatic? Do you say "what a weariness"? Malachi mirrors our apathy. Where did you lose the wonder?
2. Relationship Crises:
Malachi defends the covenant of marriage. God is a witness. Our horizontal faithfulness reflects our vertical faithfulness.
3. Hope of Healing:
The final image is the Sun rising. If you are hurt or tired of darkness, Malachi points to the horizon. Jesus is the Sun bringing healing.
