Zephaniah was of royal blood, a descendant of King Hezekiah. He preached in the days of Josiah, sparking reform. The message is urgent against syncretism (mixing God and idols).
He announces the "Day of the Lord" to sweep away hypocrisy. It starts with cosmic destruction but ends with an intimate love party.

The theology fights indifference and reveals God's emotional heart.
1. Danger of Stagnation:
He attacks those "thickening on their dregs" who say: "The Lord will not do good, nor will he do ill." The enemy is not atheism, but practical apathy.
2. Dies Irae:
Zephaniah describes judgment not as cruelty, but as necessary cleansing to remove pride.
3. The Warrior Who Sings (Ch. 3):
God is a "Mighty One who saves", but He also feels. "He will rejoice over you with gladness... he will exult over you with loud singing." God doesn't just accept His people; He celebrates them.
Where does Zephaniah meet you?
1. Spiritual Lukewarmness:
If you think God is indifferent, Zephaniah is your alarm clock. He shouts that God is "in your midst". Come out of the comfort zone.
2. Feeling Unworthy:
If you think your mistakes made God stop liking you, Zephaniah 3:17 changes everything. God isn't tolerating you; He is singing over you.
3. Promise of Shelter:
"Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the LORD." God offers shelter to the humble.
