Daniel was not saved from the den, he was saved in the den. God could have prevented the king's decree, but He preferred to let Daniel enter the trouble to show that He has dominion even in enemy territory.
The Scenario
King Darius spent a sleepless night, fasting and without music (Dan 6:18), tormented by anxiety. Meanwhile, in the den, there was a "supernatural silence". The lions, which should have roared and devoured, became pillows for the prophet.
The Investigation
The secret of Daniel's survival was constancy, not circumstance.
- The Shut Mouth: The angel shut the lions' mouths because Daniel never shut his mouth to pray to God, nor opened his mouth to defend himself from accusations. God defends those who rest.
- Innocence vs. Politics: Daniel came out unharmed "because innocence was found in him". Integrity is armor that lions' teeth cannot pierce.
The Conclusion
Sometimes, God allows you to fall into the trap they set for you, just to turn the burial into a testimony. If you are surrounded by lions (problems, debts, slander), do not try to fight with your arm. Sleep in faith. The God who shuts the lions' mouths is keeping watch with you.
