"Unstable as water thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch."

Jacob defined Reuben as "unstable as water". He could not hold anything. By going up to his father's bed, the right of kingship went to Judah and the inheritance right went to Joseph.

The Investigation

Jesus is the True Firstborn that Reuben failed to be. Reuben lost dignity; Jesus is worthy to open the scroll. Reuben brought shame to the father; Jesus glorified the Father.
