Isaac: Inherited Faith, Repeated Fear

The Child of Promise

Genesis 26:25

"And he builded an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well."

Isaac is the “child of promise,” yet life is not a fairy tale. He carries promise and fear, peace and conflict, and learns to endure.

The setting

Impossible birth: God fulfills despite time (Gen 21).
The altar of surrender: faith tested to the edge (Gen 22).
Wells and disputes: prosperity attracts opposition (Gen 26).

The investigation

Legacy isn’t immunity: Isaac repeats Abraham’s fear.
Patient obedience: he reopens wells and avoids war.
God meets him in conflict: reaffirms promise and gives direction.

Conclusion

Mature faith is staying: sometimes victory is simply not leaving the path.
Application: don’t repeat the worst of your legacy—replant the best.
