Genesis 16:6

"But Abram said unto Sarai Behold thy maid is in thine hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her she fled from her face."

The Desert of Rejection

Genesis 16:13

"And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her Thou God seest me: for she said Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?"

Hagar reaches the desert feeling invisible. Her “gap” is rejection + silence + survival.

The setting

Pressure and abuse: conflict turns into expulsion.
Real isolation: pregnant, unprotected, no plan.
Desert: when no one sees you, God does.

The investigation

God asks: “Where have you come from and where are you going?” (Gen 16).
El Roi: “the God who sees me” — identity restored.
Promise: God gives a future, not only momentary relief.

Conclusion

Application: human rejection doesn’t define worth; God sees you in the desert.
