01. The Scene
Naomi was a bitter widow. She told her daughters-in-law to leave, as she had nothing to offer. Orpah kissed her and left. Ruth, however, "clung" to her. Naomi insisted she go, but Ruth made a declaration of unshakable love.
"But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go.""
02. The Essence
Biblical love (Hesed) is stubborn. Ruth said: "Do not urge me to leave you... Where you go I will go; your people shall be my people, and your God my God." She chose to love a bitter woman with no future. True love doesn't seek its own interests; it makes a covenant in pain.
03. My Voice
Is your love convenient? Do you love God only when He offers benefits? Ruth teaches that loyal love walks together even when the destination is uncertain. This loyalty placed Ruth, a foreigner, in the lineage of Jesus.
