01. The Scene
David talks to himself: "Bless the LORD, O my soul." He commands his interior. His soul probably didn't feel like praising. He doesn't wait for feelings; he commands his will.
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!"
02. The Essence
The secret is memory: "Forget not all his benefits." We have chronic amnesia. David forces his mind to list God's resume: forgives, heals, redeems. Praise is a cognitive exercise of remembering.
03. My Voice
Do you wait to "feel" it? Learn to preach to your soul. When apathetic, command yourself: "Soul, wake up and bless the Lord." List three things He did. Feelings don't create praise; praise creates feelings.
