01. The Scene
Jonathan was the crown prince. David was the "threat". Political logic said Jonathan should hate him. Instead, "the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul."
"And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, and his armor, and even his sword and his bow and his belt."
02. The Essence
Jonathan did the unthinkable: he took off his royal robe and weapons and gave them to David. Symbolically, he handed over the throne. True love doesn't compete; it celebrates the other. He preferred to be second in God's kingdom than first in the kingdom of ego.
03. My Voice
Can you love someone who is being promoted over you? Love isn't just giving things; it's yielding rights. Love strips off pride to cover the other. Jonathan's love points to Christ, who stripped Himself of glory to clothe us.
