01. The Law
Martha is "distracted with much serving". Mary is "seated at the Lord's feet". Martha complains. Jesus corrects her: "Martha, you are anxious about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion."
"But one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her."
02. The Mechanics
The mechanic of rest is Focus. The opposite of rest isn't work, it's distraction. Martha worked for Jesus but ignored Jesus. Religious activism steals peace by replacing connection with performance.
03. The Application
Running around "doing things for God"? Beware of losing the "good portion". Service is good, but never before sitting at His feet. True rest happens when we simplify the agenda and return to the essential: hearing Him.
