01. The Law
Before Jericho, God commanded Joshua to circumcise the army. Tactically crazy: leaving soldiers wounded before the enemy. But they lacked the covenant mark.
"Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you."
02. The Mechanics
The mechanic is Painful Distinction. Circumcision was a cut in the flesh marking belonging to God. Pain lasted days; the mark, forever. God prefers a marked, vulnerable people over a strong, independent army. Victory comes from Covenant.
03. The Application
Do you bear Christ's "mark"? Being in covenant hurts because He cuts our flesh (Adamic nature). But this mark tells the world who we belong to. Don't run from the cutting; it prepares for conquest.
