01. The Law
The Gibeonites tricked Joshua into a peace treaty. Days later, the deception was exposed. The people wanted to kill them, but Joshua said: "We cannot touch them, because of the oath we swore."
"We have sworn to them by the LORD, the God of Israel, and now we may not touch them."
02. The Mechanics
The mechanic of Covenant overrides convenience. Joshua was tricked, but his word was sacred. He protected them. The principle: the integrity of the one promising matters more than the merit of the receiver. God keeps His covenant not because we are perfect, but because He cannot deny Himself.
03. The Application
Do you keep your word even when it hurts? (Psalm 15:4). We live in an era of cancelled contracts. The Kingdom runs on immutable words. If you made a covenant, keep it. Your fidelity reveals Christ's character.
