01. The Law
God commands: "You shall not let the salt of the covenant... be lacking." Salt was valuable, used to *preserve* meat from rotting. A "Covenant of Salt" (Num 18:19) means a permanent pact that doesn't spoil over time.
"With all your offerings you shall offer salt... you shall not let the salt of the covenant with your God be missing."
02. The Mechanics
The mechanic is Durability. Relationships based on feelings rot when things get hot. Relationships based on "Salt" (eternal principles) do not corrupt. Salt stings the wound, but it heals and preserves. Truth spoken in love is the salt that keeps the covenant healthy.
03. The Application
Do your covenants (with God, spouse, church) have salt or are they rotting? Is truth missing? The principle teaches us to "have salt in ourselves". Be someone who preserves relationships, stopping bitterness from corrupting the bond.
